I am a scholar of Italian literature and cultural studies. I specialise in twentieth-century Italy in a European and transnational perspective; in my research, I also look at how Italian literature from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance (e.g. Dante, Ariosto) has been reused in the twentieth century. My research areas are: Futurism, magical realism and fantastic literature, Fascism, literary and art criticism in Italy between the two World Wars, Italy's cultural exchanges with other countries (in particular France, the United States, and the United Kingdom), and poetry. Most recently I have also contributed to the fields of medical and health humanities and children's literature.
